Yellow Silk Ring Challenge Finalists

It's time to vote for your favorite entry in the Yellow Ruffled Silk Ring Treasury Challenge! Our judges have selected six fabulous collections from the wonderful entries, and now we need your help deciding which is the best of the best! The winner will choose the theme or focus for our next challenge.

Treasury Challenge: Yellow Silk Ring

The votes are in, and the winner of the “Star Deck” treasury challenge is Sepia Tones! Congratulations to the curator, bstudio, and thank you very much to all of our participants and voters!

And now it’s time for a fresh new challenge. This fun activity is designed to bring new exposure to great Etsy shops, as well as bring us all together in the spirit of beautiful treasuries!

The contest is open to anyone, and we invite all Etsy members to participate, even if you’re not an Oh Canada Team member. Buyers are also welcome to play!

The winner will receive the opportunity to select the theme for our next challenge. It could be an idea, a color, or even an item from their shop, or a favorite shop, to be featured in our next Treasury Challenge.

The Rules

1. Make a beautiful Etsy Treasury.

2. Your treasury must incorporate the challenge’s theme, and include at least 8 Oh Canada Team members. Check out our team roster for members, or search for the tag OhCanadaTeam when choosing your featured listings.

3. You must include the words “OCT Challenge” somewhere in your treasury’s title.

4. You must tag your treasury with “ohcanadateam” and “OCT challenge”

5. In your treasury’s description, let viewers know that it is an entry in an Oh Canada Team challenge, invite them to join, and provide a link to our main blog, or this post.

6. If an item in your treasury sells or is removed, please replace it with another item from the same shop. Screenshots of each entry will be available in our Flickr challenge album for your reference before judging begins.

7. Please do not use your own shop(s) in your entry, including alternate shops.

The deadline for the “Yellow Ring” challenge is Tuesday, September 7th. Our judges will select 6 finalists, and voting will begin on Thursday, September 9th.

Voting for this challenge will close the following Tuesday, and the winner will be announced along with our new challenge theme on Thursday, September 16th.

Everyone is welcome to play - including Etsy shoppers and non-team members. If you’ve never made a treasury on Etsy before, you can get some handy tips in this tutorial: How to Make Etsy Treasuries.

The Theme

Our previous challenge winner, bstudio, has selected a handmade silk ring to be the focus of this challenge. You can curate using any theme that you desire, but you must include this listing in your treasury: Yellow Ruffled Silk Ring.

Challenge Judges

Not ready to make a treasury yet? We will also be looking for guest judges to help narrow down the finalists. If you would like to participate, let us know in the comments section of this post, along with a link to your shop. The first three volunteers will be contacted by our Treasury Challenge admins with more details.

Flower of the Month: Daffodil

Petite Yellow Flower Earrings

The official flower for the month of March is the beautiful, yellow daffodil. These nodding flowers are a sure sign of spring. With their goblet-like petals, they are also quite charming - like a tea-cup for pixies.

Also known as Narcissus flowers, they are associated with the Greek myth of a man who was so vain, he drowned while staring at his own reflection in a pond. Because of this story, the daffodil is often associated with vanity in Western culture.

In Chinese tradition, the daffodil has a much more honorable role as a typical New Years decoration. It is a common symbol of wealth and prosperity throughout Asia. The yellow daffodil is also a symbol of friendship in many cultures.

Daffodils have a sweet fragrance, and are a favorite among many flower gardeners for their scent and beautiful color. They originated in the Mediterranean region, and are now grown in a variety of colors all over the world.
