Oh Canada Team Annual Christmas Gift Exchange

Hello, everyone! The leaves have turned, and it's already snowed in some parts of the country, so now is the time to turn our minds to the festive times ahead. As we ready our shops for the busy Christmas season it's time once again to also think about our annual OhCanadaTeam Christmas gift exchange.

How does it work, you ask? Go to this thread and read the instructions in the first post. Jen, of JensDreamDecor, will be handling the match-ups between shop owners and will inform you where, and to whom, you are to send your gift. Please let her know before November 21st if you'd like to participate. Usually after we receive our gifts we share pictures of ourselves with our gifts here on the blog and on the team Facebook page. It's always lots of fun...come join us!

Mother's Day Treasury Blitz 2013!

It's time to get back into the swing-o-spring, get up, get going, and make some treasuries! Oh Canada Team is having a Blitz and WE NEED YOU! Team members, we need some fantastic treasuries featuring your team mates and fellow canadians!

Our ever so relevant theme will be.... (drum roll).... MOTHERS! in honor of MOTHER'S DAY! Hurray!

Who doesn't love a good mom themed collection? Make one about gifts you would like to give your mom, items that remind you of your mom, items that would make your mom laugh, anything you can think of that makes you think of mom, mothers, nanas, grannys, bubbies, and all the maternal women we love!

The idea is to get our team's items seen by many many people in a focused rush of treasuries! by collecting all of our curative energy into these three days of concerted treasury making we can have a real impact! Please make as MANY as you want (save them as private before thursday, then post them as public on the 25th, 26th or 27th).

Use at least 5 Team members in EACH treasury, with the ENTIRE FIRST ROW of each collection being teamies. Find members at the left of our team page on etsy under the "members" link, by searching through OhCanadaTeams favs here (all member items) www.etsy.com/people/ohcanadateamaccount/favorites?ref=pr_faveitems_... or using the search tag ohcanadateam in the search bar on etsy.

All-team treasuries are a great idea - but including others can bring in outside eyes. Both are good for us! Do both, or either one. Make these as fun and attractive and vibrant and front-page-able as we can! The whole game is to get eyes on us and each other! The more eyes, the more faves, the more sales!

Tags - Please use these in EVERY treasury for this blitz
   ---     ohcanadateam   octmother    ---
Use any other relevant tags you can to get your treasury circulating. mothers day, mom, spring, shopping, canadian, etc.

Sending messages about being featured in a treasury is encouraged! If you use Schmetsy this can be quite easy. If not, it's a simple matter of copying and pasting one easy message into 16 "contact" buttons. Yes, it's a little more work, but the amount of difference it makes is quite big.

If you can't make a treasury (please, please try!) then come and look, comment, click and fave! Then come back later again and comment, click and fave again! Some teams do this on a daily or weekly basis, but we've just been saving all of our awesomeness for this surge of Canadian-Power!

SO HERE WE GO! Lets make some MOM treasuries! Post your finished works of art in the special thread -- https://www.etsy.com/teams/5036/oh-canada/discuss/12187372/

How to Post a Comment on the Blog

How to Post a Comment on the Blog

We've just concluded another successful team treasury blitz and everyone had a ton of fun, but the question was often heard, "How do I post a comment on the blog?"  So, I thought I'd post a little tutorial that we can all refer to whenever we have trouble in the future.

Step 1

Scroll down to the bottom of the post that you want to comment on.  Here you will find some text in blue, towards the end it will say "comments".  In the picture below you will see that there are presently "0 comments" on this particular post.  Make sure this is at the end of the particular post you want to comment on, not the entire page. There are often several posts displayed on one page.

Step 2

Click the text that says "comments".

This will bring up a window where you can write your comment.  Write what you intended to say, and then scroll down to the bottom of this page.  You need to choose an identity to post.  If you have a gmail account, it will automatically prompt you with it.  Select the identity you want to post with, and click the orange "Publish your comment" button.  You may be prompted to enter the text in the security box.  I am not, as I am an author on the blog, so I cannot provide a screenshot of this step.  I can say, though, that this step can take several tries.  It's not always easy to read that crazy text!

Step 3

Once you've satisfied the blog that you're not a robot by inputting the proper alphanumeric text in the security box, you should get a confirmation that your comment was posted correctly, and is awaiting publication.

Our blog is set up as a moderated one in order to avoid spammers and other unwelcome postings.  Just because your comment does not appear immediately does not mean that it did not go through, or it won't appear eventually.  It simply means that it's awaiting one of blog leaders to come in and OK it.   Unless you are a blog author, your comment will need to be moderated by hand in order to appear on the blog.  This usually doesn't take long.   Once that happens, it will look like this:

February 2013 Treasury BLITZ!

Copyright 2011 Oh Canada Team

Welcome Back Team! Happy New Year, and here's hoping the first month of 2013 has been good to all of us.

Let's start the year off with a brand new Treasury Blitz focusing on a theme to get us back in the swing of things. This blitz the theme will be "Fresh and New" inspired by our hopes for the new year. Please take this theme in any direction you want, meaning spring, clean, green, original, colour, whatever!

We thought we might try something a little different for this Blitz - Prizes! This is something I've done with another team to fun results. We have two prizes donated so far, one from myself and from Brazen so far. We are looking for one more from any member of the team (preferably something small and letter-mail-able for ease of postage).

EDIT - The Treasury Challenge rule of SIX teamies in the top three rows will apply to this Blitz as well, just for continuity's sake. Sorry for any confusion my earlier post may have caused.
The idea of the blitz is to promote each other, and the team, get as many views on our items, and get them looking fantastic in a group of complimentary items. Make as many as you want, make them beautiful, bold, interesting, and heck, maybe even front-pageable!

Once you've made your treasury (or treasuries) post the link to your treasury in the comment section of this blog by midnight (Toronto time) Friday, February 8, 2013. If your treasury link isn’t here, your treasury isn’t entered for voting!

If you can't make a treasury, for whatever reason, please check out the others, fave, click, comment, heart as much as  possible to get our teamies out there! The purpose of a blitz is to have FUN and to get our teamies SEEN. And of course, PLEASE come back and VOTE.

WHEN: Our three day Blitz will run from Feb 6, 7, 8th. That's wednesday, thursday, friday. (perfect to get those bored-at-the-office browsers).

VOTE: Feb 9, 10 - saturday and sunday! Come back to this blog, cast your vote for your fav three (3) treasuries. Votes should be tabulated by midnight monday (toronto time).

PLEASE - contact me via etsy with any questions or confusion, or if you would like to donate a prize! I hope the little small changes add some variety to the Blitz, but there is bound to be some mix ups! (I'm still a little new at this blogging thing, we'll figure out the details eventually!)

One more thing - Here at the OhCanada Blog, we'd like to start up some of the features we've had in the past, as well as some new ideas. Some things like features and interviews we can conduct mostly through Etsy and email, but other things Like friday finds and wordless wednesdays would be greatly aided if we started posting items to flickr again! That way, I know I'm allowed to pluck you out of the pool and put you on display.... er, your items at least. Go here, join the team (I just did!) do this ---

Can't wait!

Oh Canada! Treasury Challenge

Oh, Canada!  We have a winner, and I'm pleased as punch to announce that it's me!  I liked this collection of beach-y stuff, and I'm glad you did too!  I'm looking forward to seeing the entries for our next challenge.  They'll all include an item from DarkRide in the top row.
 * all entries must use an item from DarkRide in the top row of their collection
* post the link to your treasury in the comment section of this post by midnight (Ottawa time) Sunday, June 24.   If your treasury link isn’t here, your treasury isn’t entered in the challenge.
* use 5 more Oh, Canada team members in the top three rows. Incorporate as many team members as you like, but there must be at least 6 team members in the top three rows to qualify for the challenge.
* tag your treasury with octchallenge and ohcanadateam. This requirement is essential for providing the judges with one stop browsing.
* invite others to play and provide a link to the blog challenge. Just because it’d be cool to have guest players ;-)
Judging
How about you? Not into the treasury making thang, or just want to sit back for a bit? Please, be a narrow down judge, to help whittle the list of entries down to manageable size for voting. Be one of the first three folks to volunteer in the comment section of this post to take on this important role.
Since treasuries should not include an item from your own shop(s), challenge winners are cordially invited, but never expected, to help narrow down entries.  That's me!  And for sure I'm going to help judge!
