Friday Finds: The Pool After by PrankePaintings

This vibrant oil on canvas painting is a lovely representation of Canadian nature. It's also very reminiscent of the work done by the Group of Seven. Richard of PrankePaintings is a third generation artist from Montreal. His grandfather and father were artists too and the talent gene has definitely been passed on! This one is my favorite because of the starkness of the birches combined with the vibrant fall colors and turquoise water. Tag Workshop: Harvest Fossil Gemstone Pendant

This week our Tag Workshop features a lovely handmade pendant with gemstones and crystals by Sunshine Jewls. We’ll compare tag suggestions from our helpful volunteers to see what keywords shoppers might use to find it. The description reads:

Beautiful fall colors! A fossiled jasper pendant hangs from a sterling silver chain. Carnelian, smoky topaz, unakite gemstones and swarovski crystal bicones hang atop the jasper. All high-quality gemstones are wire-wrapped by hand. Chain and findings all made of sterling silver. Finished with sterling silver lobster claw clasp.

Scavenger Hunt: Juicy Apples

Everyone loves a scavenger hunt. There’s something very exciting about seeking out treasures based on a theme, or coming up with unique examples of objects from a single idea. In September, themes of back to school and the coming fall harvest are everywhere, so the Oh Canada Team has been seeking out some beautiful and delicious examples of apples around the web.

Stuff by Steph discovered a whole orchard of apples, and recommends visiting the Applewood Farm Winery the next time you’re in the Southern Ontario area. Picking your own fresh apples is a great way to spend the day with the family, and get some wholesome treats at the same time!

Steph also recommends some cute apple quilting patterns that are great for all kinds of crafts: Applique Apples and Apple Petroglyph.

Dark Ride searched high and low and curated a wonderful collection of apple goodies called Apple in My Eye, with a great combination of reds and golden browns.

Joanniel discovered a fantastic craft tutorial, that shows you how to create an adorable apple decoration from a used paperback book. This is a great example of how beautiful upcycled art can be, and you don’t have to be a mixed media expert to try it out!
